to the Seenotstaffel 7 as CH+EV (at an unknown time the name "Wilhelm
Arndt" is painted on the nose, Arndt being a pilot with Seenotstaffel 7,
he was killed in the crash of the Do-24T-2 CH+EY). The plane was flown by Leutnant Ernst Warganz
with among the crew Bordmechaniker Willi Gustav. The flight started
at Travemünde on forementioned day and via Norderney, Schellingwoude
and Venice the aircraft arrived at Athens on December
4th 1941. December 6th 1941 flown from Athens to Suda by Feldwebel Karl Friedl. December 7th 1941 flown from Suda to Bomba by Leutnant Wilhelm Arndt. December 12th 1941 flew a rescue mission from Bomba with pilot Leutnant Wilhelm Arndt. Take-off was at 07:08 with landing at 14:26. December 13th 1941 flew a rescue mission from Bomba with pilot Leutnant Wilhelm Arndt. Landing was at Athens. January 21st 1942 flown from Bomba to Suda. January 24th 1942 made a rescue mission from Suda with pilot Feldwebel Friedel. Take-off was at 10:18 and landing at 11:15. January 27th 1942 made a rescue mission from Suda with pilot Feldwebel Friedel. Take-off was at 08:10 and landing at 10:45. February 6th 1942 made a familiarisation flight from Suda with newly arrived pilot Feldwebel Hans Sost. February 22nd 1942 made a rescue mission with pilot Feldwebel Lange. Take-off was from Suda at 17:30 in the search for a Heinkel He-111 crew that crashed south of Rhodes. Landing back at Athens-Phaleron at 22:30. February 23rd 1942 flown from Athens-Phaleron to Suda. March 3rd 1942 flew a rescue mission piloted by Feldwebel Lange. Take-off from Suda at 13:10 and landing back at Suda at 19:40. March 11th 1942 made a rescue mission piloted by Feldwebel Lange in quadrant 3568. Take-off from Suda at 15:29 and landing back at Suda at 18:35. March 22nd 1942 made a transportflight from Suda to Syrakus with pilot Feldwebel Lange. Take-off from Suda at 11:50 and landing at Syrakus at 15:12. March 26th 1942 made a flight from Syrakus to Derna with landing at Derna at 14:30, pilot was Feldwebel Lange. March 28th 1942 made a flight from Derna to Suda with take-off from Derna at 15:50 and landing at Suda at 17:31. Pilot was Feldwebel Lange. March 30th 1942 made a transportflight from Athens to Syrakus, flown by Feldwebel Lange. April 1st 1942 flown back from Syracuse to Athens by Feldwebel Lange. April 2nd 1942 flown from Athens back to the homebase Suda. April 12th 1942 made a rescue mission with pilot Oberfeldwebel Friedel. Take-off from Suda at 05:58 and landing back at Suda at 11:33. April 16th 1942 flew a rescue mission with pilot Leutnant Dahn and among the crew Oberfeldwebel Friedl. Take-off from Suda at 11:19 and landing back at Suda at 12:45. The same day another mission was flown with the same crew, this time towards Alexandria. Take-off from Suda at 16:12. The search for people lasted for hours and when the returnflight to Athens was started it was becoming dark. The light at Kap Sounion was not lit so they flew in on the transmitter at Athens. The cloudcover over Athens was almost complete and the overflew the transmitter, flying back to open sea and landing in square 5762 at 00:45. The crew were most likely looking for survivors of the Ju-88A-4 Werk Nr. 5570 L1+KK of 2/LG 1. The crew of this aircraft were pilot Oberleutnant Karl Hohn, aimer Unteroffizier Hans Lotter, radio-operator Obergefreiter Hans Muncheberg and gunner Obergefreiter Walter Junge who crashed about 150 km out of Alexandria. April 17th 1942 Oberleutnant Tretter took off from Athens at 08:05 in the Heinkel He-59 Werk Nr. 2863 BV+HH to search for the Do-24T-2 CH+EV. At that time the Do-24 was already on their way to Suda, landing there at 11:50. May 27th 1942 flew protection for Junkers Ju-87's flying to Derna. Take-off with pilot Feldwebel Wilhelm Sommer and among the crew bordmechaniker Moller at 14:53 from Suda. Landing back at Suda at 18:45. June 23rd 1942 made a flight from Athens to Leros with pilot Feldwebel Lange. June 24th 1942 made a flight from Leros to Suda with pilot Feldwebel Lange. June 26th 1942 made a transportflight from Suda to Taormina with pilot Feldwebel Lange. Take-off was at 14:34. June 28th 1942 made a flight from Taormina to Suda via Syrakus with pilot Feldwebel Lange. June 30th 1942 made a rescueflight with pilot Feldwebel Lange. Take-off from Suda at 06:15. Landing back at Suda at 11:25. No further details. July 3rd 1942 made a rescueflight from Suda with pilot Feldwebel Lange. Take-off was at 05:53, arriving at the quadrant 6512/3 at 06:56. The search lasted until 07:30. Landing back at Suda at 08:55. No further details. July 9th 1942 made a rescueflight with pilot Feldwebel Lange and observer Leutnant Karl-Heinz Daehn. Take-off from Suda at 04:47 and landing back at 09:30. July 10th 1942 made a rescueflight with pilot Feldwebel Lange and observer Leutnant Karl-Heinz Daehn. Take-off from Suda at 15:34, landing at quadrant 3516 at 16:40. Took three crewmembers on board from a crashed Junkers Ju-88. Take-off at 16:55, arriving at Suda at 17:45. July 1943 damaged at Syracuse and captured by the Allies (reported in the Do-24 book, however the Seenotstaffel 7 book mentions missions with the CH+EV after this date). October 7th 1943 CH+EV is one of three Do-24's of Seentostaffel 7 that flew out to rescue survivors of the downed ship Ingeborg that was torpedo'd near Syros. The crew consisted of pilot Oberfeldwebel Lange, observer Oberfeldwebel Fuhrmann, radio-operator Feldwebel Lindt, gunner Feldwebel Wustefeld, mechanic Unteroffizier Meissner and mechanic Unteroffizier Ludtke. The aircraft takes on 52 survivors and brings them to Kos. |
