Experimental Amphibian rebuild from former Spanish Do-24T-3 (Werk
Nr. 5345, fuselage only, Werk Nr. of whole plane unknown) between
1979 and 1983. This aircraft is still owned by the Dornier family and is on display at the Oberschleißheim facility of the Deutsches Museum that is located in Munich. The aircraft will fly again, she is still owned by the Dornier family and one of the members now ownes a small airline company called Seair located in Manilla in the Philippines. The company has the idea to use this aircraft once again. Quote: "The aircraft will be used for very exclusive VIP charters to discover the most spectacular, undiscovered virgin hideways in the Philippines. The aircraft has been reconstructed and refurbished as a luxury flying boat, with space-age technology to provide a superb means of transport within the Philippine Archipelago." End quote. The planned depature of the aircraft from Germany was February 10th 2003, a date which has now passed and on which I received an email of the curator of the museum that the depature has been posponed. The planned route is by truck to Heidelberg and then by boat to Antwerp where she will be loaded on a cargoship for the Philippines. The aircraft has now been moved to Antwerp where she awaits further transportation to the Philippines. As everybody knows the ATT is in full swing during her trip around the world. The latest news regarding the future of this aircraft is a mention of Mr. Iren Dornier on German television of donating the aircraft to the Philipino police after the worldtrip is finished. |
